Everything you need to know about the Avios you have collected as a member of Iberia Plus. Check your balance and expiry date. Find out how to enjoy them yourself or share them.

Where can I see my Avios balance?

You can check your Avios balance in your private area, "My Iberia Plus > Avios". You will find all your transactions back to 2015 and can search for them by date or service category. For earlier transactions, please fill in this form.

Can another person use my Avios?

You can add beneficiaries to your Iberia Plus card so they can use your Avios for the programme services without you having to accompany them. You can change them whenever you want and update your list of beneficiaries directly by signing into iberia.com > Profile > Frequent companions.

How do I buy, gift or transfer Avios?

If you don't have enough Avios to spend on a trip or a service provided by a partner, you can buy Avios to top up your balance. As a member of Iberia Plus, you can buy, gift and transfer Avios to anyone you want.

Do my Avios expire?

If you always use your Iberia Plus card for flights or with any of the programme partners, your Avios will never expire.
In accordance with the Avios expiry rules, your Iberia Plus account must show at least one transaction (Avios collected or used) in the past 36 months to avoid losing the Avios you have collected. Transferring Avios (either issuing or receiving) is not considered a transaction. The system will automatically alert you at least 2 months in advance about the number of Avios that are going to expire. You will also be able to see this in your account statement, which you can check on iberia.com.
Once your Avios have expired, you cannot get them back.

Are my Avios refundable?

Tickets purchased with Avios for flights operated by the Iberia Group are refunded in line with the fare and the following conditions through your Iberia Plus Service Centre:

  • Blue class: Changes and refunds are permitted up to 24 hours before the flight with a penalty of €25. No full refunds or partial refunds for segments not flown are permitted after the flight.
  • Full Economy: Changes and refunds are permitted up to 24 hours before the flight. No full refunds or partial refunds for segments not flown are permitted after the flight.
  • Premium Economy: Changes and refunds are permitted up to 24 hours before the flight with a penalty of €25. No full refunds or partial refunds for segments not flown are permitted after the flight.
  • Business: Changes and refunds are permitted up to 24 hours before the flight with a penalty of €25. No full refunds or partial refunds for segments not flown are permitted after the flight.
  • Changes and refunds are not permitted for tickets purchased with Avios for Vueling flights.
  • For products and services of non-airline partners purchased with Avios, refunds must be processed directly with the partner in question and will depend on their returns policy.

 

Can I use my Avios to buy a ticket for my baby?

You can use your Avios to buy a ticket for your baby on our website, at the same time when you are buying one for yourself. If you have already made a booking with your Avios and you want to add a child under the age of 2, you will need to contact the Iberia Plus Service Centre.

What are Avios and how do you earn them?

Avios is the name of the currency for the Executive Club and Avios Travel Rewards Programme.

Sign in as an Iberia Plus card holder every time you fly with Iberia or book services with any of the programme partners. That way you will collect Avios to swap for flights, hotel stays, car hires and other services.

There are over 90 partners associated with the Iberia Plus programme with whom you can collect and spend Avios.

How can I use my Avios?

  • Book flights with Iberia for you or anyone else with your Avios.

  • Take advantage of all the perks offered by more than 90 partners.

  • With Avios&Money you can combine your Avios with money to book hotel nights and cars.

  • Use your Avios to get more discounts on the total amount of your ticket and collect Avios for your net spending (excluding taxes and fees).

  • You can buy, gift and transfer Avios to anyone who is an Iberia Plus cardholder.

  • You can Upgrading using your Avios, as long as your ticket is a Y, B or H fare and there is availability in the Premium and Business cabins.

What do I do if I'm missing some Avios or Elite Points?

If you find that the Avios balance in your personal area under “Balance and transactions” doesn't show all the Avios or Elite Points earned for flights taken or services used, remember that for transactions where you entered your Iberia Plus number during the booking process it will take up to 2 months, depending on the airline or Iberia Plus partner, for them to appear in your account.
If your Avios or Elite Points have still not been recorded in your account after 2 months, follow the steps below to claim them:

AIRLINE CLAIM PROCEDURE RECORDING PERIOD
Flights operated or sold by the Iberia Group,* American Airlines, British Airways, Malaysian Airlines, Qatar Airways and Sri Lankan Airlines. You can manage through iberia.com under My Iberia/Avios and Elite Points/ Non-recorded Avios. Avios will be recorded within 45 days.
Other airlines associated with the programme You will need to send the boarding card image and a copy of the electronic ticket through form. Avios will be recorded within 45 days.
Iberia Plus partners (other than airlines) You must process it with the partner with whom you booked the service, through the contact details that appear in “Otras compañías asociadas: Avios/Non-recorded Avios. Avios will be recorded within 3 months.

*The Iberia Group comprises Iberia, Iberia Express and Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum.

In all three cases above, you have 6 months from the date of the service to claim missing Avios or Elite Points; or 3 months if you registered after the date of the service in the case of airlines. The Avios will be recorded in your account within 3 months of the date of your claim.

Can I pay for a booking with my Avios?

You can pay for your purchases with Avios through the flight finder on Iberia.com. Once you have chosen your origin/destination and travel dates, the option “Pay with Avios”will appear. You can also log in from “Iberia Plus > Avios > Use My Avios”, or alternatively call your Iberia Plus Service Centre.

Another option is to combine Avios and cash; sign in and go the payment page, where you'll see the option of paying part of the amount in Avios, with different amounts and their equivalence in euros for you to choose whichever suits you best.

If you belong to the loyalty programme of another airline in the oneworld Alliance, you must make your booking through their website or call centre.

Tickets obtained with Avios do not generate Avios.

Can I add my Iberia Plus card after I've bought my ticket so I collect the Avios?

If you have already bought your ticket and forgot to enter your Iberia Plus card number, you can add it by accessing your bookings under "Your Flights > Manage your booking". When you reach your booking details, select "Passenger information" and enter your loyalty card number. Alternatively, you can add the number during check-in.

Once you have flown, process it through iberia.com in My Iberia/Avios and Elite Points/Missing Avios.

What is a codeshare flight?

Iberia maintains agreements with other airlines through which it sells seats on certain routes operated by those airlines under the IB code. These flights are known as “codeshare flights” and are only valid for collecting *Avios if they are operated by a oneworld alliance airline.

If you bought you ticket through iberia.com and the operator is American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair or Vueling, we'll redirect you their website so you can check in online. If the operator is another airline, you will have to check in at the airport.
Your ticket will state the free checked baggage included in your baggage allowance. For excess weight, additional bags and similar, the baggage regulations of the operating airline will apply.

*However, with the exception of Vueling, Level and Interjet, you can't use Avios to buy tickets for these flights.
