Even if they are minors, they can travel alone. The adult fare applies.
Conditions based on the age of the child
| Child's age | Fare | Seat | Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Infant (under 2 years) | INF | No | Travels and pays a percentage of the fare of the accompanying adult. |
| Under 2 years | CHD | Yes | Discount according to chosen fare and destination. Requires approved car seat |
| 2 to 11 years old | CHD | Yes | Discount according to fare and destination. |

Travelling with infants under 2 years of age

Infants who are under 2 years of age throughout the journey can travel on the infant fare (INF). This fare does not include a dedicated seat (the baby travels on the adult's lap), and the price ranges from 10% to 30% of the companion's ticket.
If you would like your infant to occupy their own seat or if they turn two years old before the end of the trip, it is necessary to purchase the child passenger (CHD) fare. In this case, it is mandatory to bring a approved car seat for use in aircraft. The seat must comply with road safety standards (ECE R44/R129), display the TÜV or FAA certification for aircraft, and must not exceed 42–44 cm in width.
In short: the infant's fare depends on their age and whether they occupy their own seat.
On Iberia flights operated by LATAM, infants who travel in Business Class will be subject to the same fare as adults and will occupy an individual seat, bearing in mind the above safety regulations for such cases.
Baby cots on long-haul flights

Iberia offers comfort cots for babies on long-haul flights, available on request and subject to availability.
Bookings are only handled through our Booking Offices in your country. Secure your seat in the cot area by booking in advance. Depending on your ticket fare, an additional charge may apply.
-
They are suitable for infants under 8 months old and weighing up to 11 kg.
-
On A-321LXR aircraft, cots are only limited to a maximum weight of 18 kg.
-
Approximate dimensions: 75 × 34 cm.
-
Available on all our aircraft, except in the Premium Economy cabin of the Airbus A350.
In summary: cots help the baby rest. Their availability depends on the type of aircraft and cabin.
Travelling with children aged 2 to 11

Children aged 2 to 11 must travel on the child passenger (CHD) fare, with a percentage discount that depends on the selected fare:
-
On flights within Spain, some economy fares may not offer a discount.
-
On international flights, the discount varies depending on the destination and the fare applied. In some special offers, it does not apply.
In summary: Children who occupy their own seat travel with the child passenger (CHD) fare up to (but not including) their 12th birthday (optional for infants aged 0–13 months).
Travelling with more than one child under age 5

To ensure maximum safety and comfort during the flight, an adult may travel with:
-
2 infants if the adult brings an approved car seat in which one of the infants will be accommodated, or
-
An infant and a child under five years old or
-
Two children under the age of 5.
In summary: You can travel with more than one child under 5 years old as long as you meet the conditions.
Travelling with a group of minors

To travel with a group of children aged 5 to 11, you need at least one companion over 18 years of age for every 8 children travelling with them as their responsible adult. In other words:
-
One accompanying adult for every 8 children aged 5 to 11.
-
Two accompanying adults for every 9 to 16 children aged 5 to 11.
In short: One accompanying adult will be added for every 8 children thereafter, as the number increases. Remember that children over the age of 12 can travel alone, so this regulation does not apply.
Minors travelling alone

Iberia offers an Unaccompanied Minor Service that ensures the child is looked after throughout the journey, from the airport of departure until arrival at the destination.
-
Mandatory service for children aged 5 to 11.
-
Optional service for youth aged 12 to 17.
For more information, please see our Unaccompanied Minor Service.
Children’s baggage

Hand luggage
You are allowed to carry a bag for your baby with their food, drink and items needed for the flight. All these products are exempt from the regulations on the transport of liquids.
Checked baggage
Children with a child passenger (CHD) or infant passenger (INF) fare ticket have the same free baggage allowance as the companion and can also take a buggy or a car seat free of charge.
You can take your baby's buggy:
-
Taking it to the aircraft door:
-
If there is space in the cabin: you can take it with you.
-
If the plane is full: Staff will check it into the hold and hand it back to you at the aircraft door upon arrival.
Some airports ban buggies in their terminals. In that case (or on connecting flights), you should collect it from the baggage carousel at your final destination.
-
-
Checking it at the check-in desk:
You can check it in for free along with the rest of your bags. Upon arrival, you will collect it directly from the baggage carousels in the arrivals hall.
