Children aged 2 to 11 must travel on the child passenger (CHD) fare, with a percentage discount that depends on the selected fare:

  • On flights within Spain, some economy fares may not offer a discount.

  • On international flights, the discount varies depending on the destination and the fare applied. In some special offers, it does not apply.

In summary: Children who occupy their own seat travel with the child passenger (CHD) fare up to (but not including) their 12th birthday (optional for infants aged 0–13 months).

Travelling with more than one child under age 5

More than one child

To ensure maximum safety and comfort during the flight, an adult may travel with:

What to do if

I am travelling with two infants

You must purchase a child passenger (CHD) ticket for one of them and use an approved car seat to place it in their seat.

My child and I are flying in different cabins

If your child is aged between 5 and 11 and you are flying on the same flight but in a different cabin, you must book our Unaccompanied Minor Service.

I am travelling alone with several children

An adult may travel with one infant (under 2 years of age), another infant occupying a seat and a child under 5 years of age, or with two children under 5 years of age.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

At what age can a baby travel by plane?

With Iberia, you can travel at any time, but we recommend that you do not fly with your baby until at least 7 days after giving birth. Remember to check the applicable fare, its conditions, the baggage allowance and the safety regulations.

How should babies travel on the plane?

Change in pressure may cause discomfort in your baby's ears (consult your paediatrician).
We recommend you keep your baby well-hydrated before and after the flight , as they are very susceptible to dehydration.

From what age can a child travel alone?

From age 5, with mandatory Unaccompanied Minor Service, up to age 11. With Iberia, children who have turned 12 may travel as adults, but may also optionally choose to use the same service. For more information, see the Minors Travelling Alone page.Minors Travelling Alone.

What baggage can an infant bring on board the plane?

If you are travelling with your baby, you may carry a hand luggage bag containing their food, drink and necessary items for the flight, in addition to the permitted hand luggage.

Infants with a ticket for a child passenger (CHD) or infant passenger (INF) have the same free baggage allowance as the adult companion and may also take a pushchair or a car seat.
