Payment methods

Tickets can only be paid with credit or debit cards accepted by Iberia, through PayPal and Bizum, and by bank transfer through SOFORT:

• The following cards are accepted worldwide: Visa, Visa Electron, American Express, MasterCard, Maestro, UATP/Airplus and Diners Club.
  Certain countries also accept the following cards:
  UnionPay in the eurozone.
  Elo in Brazil.
  JCB in Japan.

• PayPal is available in some countries.

• SOFORT bank transfers are available in some European countries.

• Google Pay and Apple Pay in the eurozone, United States and United Kingdom.

• iDEAL bank transfers are available in the Netherlands.

• Bizum is only available in Spain.

• Payment in instalments, available in Spain and France.

• Mercado Pago, available in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru as well as with these options:
  PIX in Brazil.
  PSE in Colombia.
  Debit in Chile.

• With Avios, sign in as an Iberia Plus member and choose the "Discount with Avios" when you reach the payment page.

Remember, Iberia advises against the use of virtual cards to buy tickets.

Transactions made in Spain are exempt from charges. In some countries, you will be charged* when you use a corporate credit card to pay for your purchase. You can get this information when you enter your card details to make the payment.

*This additional charge does not apply to flight tickets purchased with Avios, or to payments for any other optional services (changes in flight tickets, advance seat booking, additional baggage, special baggage, etc).

Iberia Icon and Iberia Classic are credit cards associated with the Iberia Plus points programme. They earn you Avios every time you use them to pay for purchases. Iberia Icon also unlocks advantages such as exclusive access to Iberia Plus Plata membership.

Pay for your trip in convenient instalments quickly and easily, without having to register. You just have to fill out a short form and we will redirect you to our provider's website where you can choose one of the payment plans they offer you, the one that best suits your needs.
Bear in mind that additional details may be requested for approval. Once it has been authorised, you'll automatically go back to the booking confirmation page at iberia.com.

This option will appear on the payment page as one of the alternatives in the markets where it is available. For now we can only offer you this option in Spain. In certain countries, some bank cards (usually credit cards) let you defer payment.

The security code on a credit card (indicated as CVV) is a validation code that verifies the authenticity of your Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club or American Express card.

On Visa, MasterCard and Diners Club cards this security code is on the reverse side of the card and is identified by the last 3 numbers. On American Express cards it is a 4-digit code printed on the front of the card, just above the card number.

Your payment card will automatically be debited when you reach the end of the Online Booking and Purchase process. Depending on the bank, there may be a pre-authorisation which is subsequently cancelled by definitive charge.

If the holder of payment card used to make the booking needs to show it at the airport on the date of travel, we'll inform you of this before you confirm payment.

Bizum is an easy and convenient way to shop online because all you will need to pay for your flight is to have your phone to hand. Once you confirm payment, the money will be transferred immediately from your bank account.

If you select "Bizum" as the payment method, we'll redirect you to that page so you can enter your phone number. Next, you'll get a notification on your electronic banking app asking you to confirm payment. Once you've done that, you'll automatically go back to the Iberia booking confirmation page.

It's the American Express card. You can use it for all your daily expenses and collect MR Points which you can then transfer to Iberia Plus and turn into free flights. Transfer your Avios through the American Express website and enjoy your reward.

PayPal is a safe easy way to make online payments. All you only need is an email address to make secure online payments using a debit card, credit card, bank account or PayPal balance if you register on the PayPal website.

If you select “PayPal” as your payment method, you will automatically be redirected to the website. When you have completed your payment, you will automatically go back to the Iberia booking confirmation page.

If you use the Apple Wallet app (on IOS or through the Safari browser) or Google Wallet app (for Android), you can pay for your trip through the Iberia app or at iberia.com in all eurozone markets.

Just add a credit/debit card (VISA, Mastercard or AMEX) to your wallet and payment will be taken automatically, although your mobile device may ask you to provide additional verification, such as your fingerprint or a PIN.

SOFORT Banking is an online payment system certified by the German organisation TÜV Saarland. It is based on internet banking services that use PIN or TAN codes to access accounts, guaranteeing fast and secure online purchases.
All you need is a bank account at one of the supported (which means most banks in Spain). Payment is made in three easy steps and there's no need to register.

SOFORT Banking may only be used for transactions in EUR and there is no fee for deposits.
If you select “Bank transfer (Sofort)” as your payment method, you will automatically be redirected to the Sofort page. Once you have finished the payment procedure, you will automatically go back to the Iberia booking confirmation page.
