You have to get to know Rome by walking it, so we recommend combining your flight with a central hotel to be able to visit any point of the eternal city in a few minutes. If we talk about the center of Rome, we will immediately think of the Spanish Steps where you can find one of the hotels with possibly the best views of the city: Rome Art Hotel. If you want to sleep next to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, we recommend Hotel Morgana, but if what you want is to experience the picturesque and nocturnal Rome, your place to stay is the Trastevere neighborhood, in which we recommend a boutique hotel to match: Ripa Roma Hotel.

Rome has something at every corner, from monuments to ruins and shops, but for a truely amazing visit, don't miss these five wonders. Let's start at the Colosseum: purchase your tickets and let your imagination run wild with thoughts of gladiators doing battle in the great arena. It's breathtaking isn't it? Pay a visit to the Vatican and be amazed by its maginificent splendour. Admire the stunning Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo. Climb Aventine Hill and take a peek through the Aventine Keyhole to discover what secrets lie beyond. Finally, visit the city centre to admire the Pantheon and its breathtaking architecture. Rome has all this and so much more, so come and discover it for yourself.
Eating in Rome: a real pleasure
It's a good thing that you're exploring Rome by foot, as you'll be burning off calories from the delicious food you're going to try. That's just part of the fun, so make a note of these: you can't leave without tasting real spaghetti carbonara (no cream!). The original recipe comes from Rome, so it's the perfect place to try it. Round off your meal and head for the Giolitti ice cream parlour to savour the heavenly delights. If sightseeing makes you hungry, we recommend that you try the famous “pizza al taglio”, which is pizza cut into slices for you can take away. At the right time of year, you can try artichokes in one of the small trattorias. They are absolutley delicious!

Rome is an open-air museum and to see as much as possible we recommend that you buy a 48 hour or 72 hour Roma Pass card. The 48 hour card offers access to one museum or archaeological site free or charge. The 72 hour card gives you access to two. You can also save with discounted entry to many museums, sites and attractions. To get around fast, the card offers free unlimited travel on Rome's buses and metro (48 or 72 hours, depending on the card you choose). Plus, avoid the queues at the Capitoline Museums or at Castel Sant'Angelo, because with the Roma Pass you can go straight in. The benefits go on and on!
