They also charter flights to the airports closest to the sea ports from which they operate their cruises.
Sports federations and clubs frequently plan these charter flights to take their teams and fans to major competitions. The entities we are working with include the Spanish Olympic Committee and the Spanish basketball, football and handball federations.

As we approach the final stage of the summer season, we continue to offer a variety of special flights. In August and September, we have up to 154 charter flights, catering above all for cruises and tour operator destinations but also including incentive trips and sporting events.
Holiday charter flights
Cruise passengers are regular customers on our charter flights, and in August and September we continue to offer assistance to MSC Cruceros with special operations to Trieste, one every ten days, Venice and Bari, one every Saturday, and Copenhagen, one every Sunday.
Costa Cruceros is another company that benefits from our charter services, with one flight a week on Fridays to Hamburg and Athens, a flight on Saturdays to Catania, and one on Sundays to Bari.
For Sama Travel we offer an alternating service between Izmir and Istanbul every Saturday.
At the end of August we'll be assisting the tour operator Speranza with two special return flights between Zagreb and Girona.
Sports charter flights
The summer has been packed with sporting events and we're extremely proud of Spain's latest victories in the tennis and football championships.
At Iberia, we're honoured to continue supporting Spanish sport with our charter flights for sporting events. For example, we brought back one of the most important Spanish football clubs from the Pre-season tour of the United States, and for the final of the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw we not only flew the members of the football club there but the entire management team as well.
In mid-August we'll be providing our support again with sports charter flights for the athletes taking part in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Another large group of these athletes will return from Paris on Iberia's scheduled flights. Three institutions have chartered flights in this case: the COE (Spanish Olympic Committee) to Paris, the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) to Bordeaux, and the FEB (Spanish Basketball Federation) to Lille.
As the new La Liga season begins, we are set to take one of the EA Sports teams to the Balearics and the Canaries. And then in September, we're operating sports charters to San Sebastián.
At the end of August we're flying the cyclists competing in the Vuelta Ciclista España from Granada-Jaén to Vigo.
Corporate charter flights
A percentage of our charter flights in this period is dedicated to incentive trips for companies.
B2Iberia is assisting the sponsor of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Toyota, by bringing the employees back to Madrid. The flight has been chartered by Viajes NUBA, one of the travel agencies in Spain specialising in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) sector.
Volkswagen has chartered our incentive flight services to take its employees from Munich to Barcelona.
Charter flights are flights that are operated outside Iberia's scheduled programme and are sold outside the usual channels. They are usually arranged by a travel agency or another organisation with very specific travel needs that are not covered by the general offer, whether related to dates, routes, number of passengers or any other factor.
The main advantage of arranging a charter flight is that you can cover specific travel needs that you would not be able to meet with a scheduled flight: reaching destinations infrequently served by scheduled operations, saving the costs of overnight stays, and adjusting the times to your own schedule.
You can hire an Iberia plane privately to cover any need. Tour operators, sports clubs and private companies are among the most frequent users of our charter flights. However, during the Covid-19 global crisis Iberia has organised charter flights to repatriate people and transport medical supplies.

The punctuality rates of Iberia charter flights are in line with those of our scheduled flights, which for years have made us one of the world leaders in punctuality thanks to more than 95% of on-time landings. In fact, our charter flights exceed Iberia's average punctuality rate.
If a malfunction is detected on a plane scheduled for a charter flight, Iberia pours all its resources into solving the problem to guarantee the operation: from the maintenance team to the reserve aircraft on standby in our hangar. This is one of the main advantages of arranging a private flight with a robust airline like Iberia.
Passengers on charter flights are protected against delays and cancellations by EU Regulation 261.
