Please check the price chart to find out the fees for taking special luggage on short, medium and long-haul flights.

Remember, sporting equipment that is accepted free of charge on long-haul flights is  treated as an item  of checked baggage. This  means that if you exceed the number of items included in your  checked baggage allowance, it will be treated as additional baggage.
You can book and pay the fee through the website. However, firearms and excess weight can only be processed at the airport.

Sports equipment

Make sure you comply with the carriage and packing requirements for sports equipment so you don't have any problems when you check it in. The permitted weight is 23 kg. If you exceed it, you will have to pay an excess baggage fee up to a maximum of 32 kg.

Snow and water skis, snowboard or monoski:

Snow: One pair of skis or a monoski, one helmet, one pair of poles and one pair of boots. You can carry them in two bags.

Water: One bag with one pair of standard-size water skis or one slalom water ski.

Golfing equipment

One bag with 14 clubs, 12 balls and one pair of shoes.

Golf clubs should be securely fastened inside the bag to ensure that they don't inconvenience or injure other passengers during boarding, carriage and disembarkation.

Skates, skateboard or scooter

One bag with one pair of skates or one skateboard or a scooter, one set of protectors (elbow pads, knee pads, etc.) and a helmet.

You can take these as long as they aren't mechanised. Recreational devices such as hover boards, air wheels and mini-segways are not permitted.

Other sports equipment

Bowls: One bag of bowls and one pair of shoes.

Tennis/squash/badminton: One set of racquets and balls carried in a bag.

Ice hockey: One bag with ice hockey sticks, one pair of ice skates, one set of protectors (elbow pads, knee pads, etc.), one helmet.

Javelin throwing equipment: One set of javelins in a container.

Archery equipment: One set of bow and arrows in a container.

Aerial activities

Hang glider: In a single container with a maximum length of 3.5 m.

Skydiving/paragliding: In a single container. Paragliders with engines are not permitted.

Bikes

They must be non-motorised and have one seat only. Electric or e-bikes are not permitted.
Before you check in your bike, please fix the handlebars sideways, remove the pedals, let the air out of the tyres and then place the folded bike in an appropriate travel box or bag.
Iberia can provide a box* with dimensions 131+72+21 cm for EUR 20 per unit at the request of the passenger or at the request of the agents in case of irregularities.

Surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding and bodyboarding equipment

One board and/or parachute with some exceptions regarding standard measurements.

Surf/kite/wave board: One kite and/or board that does not exceed 3.5m in length.

Bodyboard/Boogie board: One board with maximum dimensions of 100x50x20 cm.

Windsurf board: The board, boom, centreboard, mast and sail all wrapped together.

Only one set of equipment is permitted per passenger and carriage is subject to the availability of space on the flight.
You must arrive at the airport in good time to allow check-in, transportation to the aircraft and placement of your equipment in the hold.

In view of its characteristics, which normally impede carriage on the baggage belts, it is up to the airline personnel to decide whether to use a system that facilitates the carriage of this equipment from the check-in area to the aircraft. You will be charged for any expenses arising from this procedure.

 

Other water sports equipment

Diving, fishing, inflatable rubber boat, life jacket/personal flotation device...

Diving: One container/bag with a mask, two flippers, a pressure gauge, hydrostatic vest, snorkel, weight belt and an empty bottle, for safety.

Fishing: A maximum of 2 containers, one with no more than two rods and another with boots and fishing gear.

Inflatable rubber boat: Transport bag with one rubber boat (non-motorised), one pair of oars.

Life jacket/personal flotation device: One inflatable jacket + one 60g cylinder of CO2.

Bulky and/or heavy luggage

For any luggage that exceeds the permitted dimensions (158cm height+width+length), please contact our Booking Centre in advance to check whether it can travel on the same plane as you. For luggage that weighs between 23 kg and 32 kg you will be charged the relevant excess baggage fee at the airport.

Musical instruments, audiovisual equipment, industrial parts, etc. that weigh between 32 kg and 45 kg* are treated as an additional item of luggage and you will be charged the relevant fee.

*Except on flights from Brussels where the maximum permitted weight to check in any type of luggage is 32 kg.

 

Firearms

Whether hunting or sport equipment, firearms and ammunition are treated as dangerous items and must therefore be carried in the hold. You will be charged the relevant fee at the airport.
Hunting and sport shooting equipment is considered to cover the group of items comprising only:

Rifles and shotguns (long weapons):
Two rifle or shotgun cases with no more than two rifles or shotguns in total and a maximum of five kg of ammunition per passenger in one or more boxes. One additional case or bag for shooting sports equipment (suit, gloves, footwear, etc.).

Guns (short weapons):
Two gun cases with no more than five guns and a maximum of 5 kg of ammunition per passenger in one or more boxes. One additional case or bag for shooting sports equipment (suit, gloves, footwear, etc.).

Conditions of acceptance on the flight
Weapons must be unloaded, disassembled and packed in an appropriate case. Ammunition must be packed in a separate case made of wood, metal or pressed cardboard, duly labelled and identified on the outside and with the airline's knowledge.

To board a direct or connecting flight from any airport in Brazil on which you want to take or check in a fire arm, you must register on SISCAER ARMAS (only available in Portuguese).

Check-in
Before you check in firearms and ammunition, you will need to go to the Firearms Office at the airport and fill in the paperwork. Carry the original form yourself and put the copy inside the case containing the firearm.
On arrival, you will have to collect your firearms from the Firearms Office at the destination airport if you are travelling in Spain, or where indicated by the authorities if you are travelling to another country.

Exceptional cases

Flights from London

Bags and other items exceeding 190 cm in length are not permitted.

Cash payments are not accepted at Heathrow airport.

Animals are not permitted in the cabin (PETC) on flights to London, or in the hold (AVIH) on flights to/from London. However, they are permitted to travel as cargo.
